Landed in Honolulu and headed to the Dole Plantation…we had to have Dole Whip! The gardens were beautiful, Kiersten loved the monsterra, and we took a trip on the Pineapple Express. After getting checked into our hotel we walked the beach and got settled just in time for a fireworks show!
Amazing!!! It was two miles and a 1000 feet down to some amazing snorkeling!! The corral was beautiful and the sea life was amazing…trumpet fish, parrot fish, puffer fish, even a barracuda. Followed by another two miles and 1000 feet climb to get out. Worth it!! And then we had the best dinner at Aloha Vibes…a little place on the water. The Ahi Tuna and garlic chicken were amazing!
Leave it to Mitch to find a random waterfall. We were driving back from the National Park and we detoured through Hilo. We went through some residential areas and ended up at this beautiful waterfall. So of course Mitch and the girls took turns jumping off the rocks…doesn’t everybody?!?!
And of course we did one of the things that we do best!! We are National Park People, so we hit up Volcanoes National Park! Mt Kileauea had erupted just a few days prior and we actually saw the last remnants of lava coming from the ground…what an experience! We went through the lava tube and enjoyed all the different plants/vegetation. Very cool experience!
