Boba obsessed!

Today we found a hidden Decatur gem! My girls love Boba Tea so we treated ourself on this gloomy rainy day. The smoothies, matcha milk tea and macaroons get two thumbs up from this crew!

We’lol definitely be back to JS Patisserie. I wonder how many times the girls will try to convince me to get Boba before we go to Spain?!?! I wonder if they have Boba in Spain?!?!

Teenager

My floors are filthy, my counters are sticky, but our hearts are so full. Not only was today the last Fay of a super crazy school year, but we also hosted a whole lot of junior high girls at our house after to celebrate Leah and the covid crazy year.

Leah really has a lovely group of friends. So we were happy to host them. They really let loose since school was out. All the sugar probably played a small part in that too.

Let’s paint with Liz came to the house and the girls all got to create a project. Just a few more days of work for me and then we’re off to Arizona!

Euchre

These two!!! Their love for the card game Euchre runs deep.

Leah is my introvert, she’s quiet and a little shy. She wasn’t thrilled about starting confirmation at the beginning of the year. Enter Malinda!!!

Everyone should be so fortunate to have a Director of Children’s Education like Malinda. She has made this year so special for both Leah and Kiersten. They can’t wait for youth group, they want to go to church and Camp Cilca is all they can talk about for summer plans. What a blessing she has been...guiding them in the way of the word, praying for our kids and loving them during what’s been a crazy year.

And when we head across the pond I know the Schultz girls will be counting the days until they can get back to youth group with Malinda!

Swim Awards 2021

What a wild ride it’s been!!! Today we had our 2020-2021 swim banquet. A year ago we had no coach, no swim, and no idea what was in store for our team. In June we were able to register for a lane to lap swim. In August we got a coach! Yay Lauren Nesbitt! September and October were relatively normal and then boom...shut down again!!! Back to lap swim, no real practice. Meets were cancelled, the calendar kept right on moving, and in January we ALL had Covid. Ugh!!! Back to the pool in February, started having meets. USA Regionals cancelled, Y state cancelled. Knee cap dislocated and then a modified Y state. What a season! Big shoutout to our coaching staff for staying organized, going with the flow and not losing their sanity.

Today Hattie received the Sportsmanship award...always cheering on her teammates. She doesn’t hesitate to share her lane and no one is surprised by her big heart and ability to be kind. Leah received a Golden Gator award for swimming all events Y swim this year. She was so close for USA swimming but with fewer meets and a major injury it just didn’t happen. Kiersten walked away with some pretty good awards. She was the MVP of the girls 11-12 age group, she received the IMR award for USA swimming...and she took home the girls top honor, Swimmer of the Season. She’s the biggest cheerleader...doesn’t matter who or what race, if she can she’s at the edge of the pool cheering them on. She gives 110% in everything she does, never skipping a set. So proud of her.

Through it all these girls still showed up at the pool and gave it their all. I’m proud of them and their determination. And while the next year will be a challenge as they have to learn to swim with a new team, we’ll be happy to return. Because YDSC Gators will always be home.

Teenager!

It might be Mother’s Day but we spent the day celebrating the one that made me a mother...and my sweet niece Macy for her sweet 16!

How is my baby 13?!?! She says she was the beat Mother’s Day gift ever, and she’s not wrong. She was born on a Friday morning in Freehold, NJ just two days before Mother’s Day.

Can’t believe Macy and Leah are both hitting milestones this year. They’re the sweetest girls who make us all so proud. Leah didn’t even complain that I signed her up to serve at church on her birthday. After church we headed to Charleston for a quick celebration. It was so nice to be together after this long crazy Covid year. And then of course we got ice cream cones when we got back to town. Real party will happen soon when school gets out. Happy #13 to Leah and sweet 16 for Macy Lynn!!!

Kids can TRI

Super proud mom right now!!! Kiersten headed to Springfield at the crack of dawn this morning to compete in her first triathlon, Abe’s Mini. This kid is such a go-getter!!! She never backs down and always gives 110%. She amazes me. She finished strong. Even after the swim and bike she ran a 7:26 mile. Her swim was a new PR at 1:58 and her five mile bike was around 23:00.  She headed home with second place, finishing with a time of 36:03!!! Way to go, Bug!

I’m so grateful for her amazing dad who knows how to do this stuff so he can guide her. He’s definitely her biggest cheerleader.

Junior High Honors

Tonight was our Junior High Awards Ceremony. Leah achieved Academic Honors in her 5 core classes. This kid has juggled Accelerated Literature and Composition, Algebra I, Early Bird Spanish, Social Studies and Science. On top of these classes she’s still doing Orchestra as well. She’s managed it all so well in the midst of a global pandemic. We are so proud of this girl. Wish I could’ve stopped and given her a fist bump after I announced her name to walk across stage...she would’ve loved that! Big things on the horizon for this kid.
