Carla in Arizona

While we were making our way through Sevilla and Portugal Carla was taking in all that Tucson had to offer. I was worried that her flight not be able to go with all the bad, COLD weather and all the cancellations but they made it to Arizona on Christmas Day. They had decent weather and got in a few days at Gigi and Papa’s pool, they even went to the Omni pool one day.

Somehow Aunt Laura convinced Carla and Macy to go workout at Orange Theory with her more than once. I’m sure they were happy to go because that probably meant Starbucks afterwards. They made sure to get Frost gelato, too! Our favorite!

Top Golf was a fun experience. Although I don’t think Carla will be picking up Golf anytime soon. And I think they all enjoyed going to the Football game at the University of Arizona. Most of all I think they just loved the warm weather!

Sightseeing Lisboa

It’s safe to say that Mitch and I were unprepared for all the climbing in Portugal. I had 50-60 flights each day according to my watch. But we survived. And those climbs provided some pretty amazing views. We’ve also really enjoyed the cuisine. They have a lot of specialty dishes with cod and some Portuguese sausage. They did not disappoint!!! The chorizo stuffed bread from the Christmas market was fantastic, the Ghluwein, too…and even Hattie was a fan of the cod scrambled with eggs and potatoes. More than anything we enjoyed the warm temps, the sun…and of course, being together!

Pastel de Nata

This trip to Portugal has been in the works for a while. Carla’s parents told us we had to try the famous Pastel de Nata from one of the oldest bakeries in Lisbon, Pastéis de Belém (1837). When we arrived at our AirBnB they also mentioned the bakery in their guidebook. We put it on our list but when we went by this morning the line was so long. We decided to check out a few other landmarks and I decided we had to have them. Lucky for us the line went fast…because they were amazing!!! The Torre de Belém was pretty cool, too!
