Canton ‘Cuda Classic

I love Swim meet Sundays!!! And maybe you can’t tell but I’m smiling big behind that mask. Even though sometimes it feels hotter than Hades on that pool deck I don’t care...I’ll wear my mask and officiate all day long to keep these kids in the pool. They’ve worked so hard this year under crazy circumstances. Right now we’ll take what we can get. But we’re all super excited for next week when we finally compete against another team...in person...for the first time in almost a year!!!

Leah had drops in her 50 fly and her 50 free. She missed state time by .02 in her fly. Kiersten dropped in her 50 breast, her 50 free, her 50 back and 5 seconds in her 100 breast. Hattie dropped in her 50 free and finally didn’t DQ in her 25 fly! Excited to see what they do in Effingham this weekend against some competition.

Grandma’s dress

We just passed the Osseo/Mondovi exit in Wisconsin. Can’t pass those signs without thinking of Mitch’s amazing Grandmother...Grandma Fran. This weekend Grandma Tootie pulled out Fran’s wedding dress. The consensus seemed to be that 12 year old Leah was the only one it would fit. What a tiny little thing. But also one of the sweetest, hardest working women I’ve ever met. What a blessing she was to my girls...never forgetting them on a holiday or a birthday. How special for Leah to try on the dress she wore in August 1947.  Thanks for sharing it with us, Grandma Tootie.

Schultz Family Covid-Christmas

Better late than never, right??? You mean you DON’T celebrate Christmas on Valentines Day?!?! When you're in the midst of a global pandemic you adjust accordingly. And with no school on Presidents’ Day it seemed like the perfect opportunity for us to get together (and it doesn’t hurt that most of us have had Covid now). The weather was stupid cold...pretty sure my eyeballs were freezing when I went outside.  But inside was full of love and laughter, making memories with heat!!! We all had put ugly Christmas sweaters, and we’re excited for our next visit together in July...with a much better forecast. Now we head south for snowmageddon, where Central Illinois is expecting anywhere from 7-11 inches of snow. Thanks 2021.

The Buzzzz About Spelling

I’ve never been to a spelling bee...but there’s a first for everything. I remember last year, Bug was disappointed that she had to miss the “test” for the spelling bee because we were at an orthodontist appointment.  She was thrilled to move on to the district meet this year to represent the 5th grade class at Intermediate. She didn’t move on to the next level but she was thrilled...and we are proud of her all the same. Good job, love Bug!
