Love All

I probably don’t tell her often enough how proud I am of her. It’s no secret that we’re hard on our kids. We expect a lot from them academically, behaviorally, morally…and she rises to every challenge the best she knows how. She played number 6 for varsity tennis tonight…and she won! And she’s fitting in swim practice here and there when she can. She’s getting involved with clubs at school. She’s in a few accelerated classes. She’s staying active in youth group at church…and she’s doing it all under the added stress of transitioning back from living abroad and 55 days with no dad. And she’s a daddy’s girl!!! His visit home can’t come soon enough. I guarantee he’s proud of her, too. Through all our ups and downs, because teenagers, I’ve got a pretty great kid!

Homecoming 2022

What a day!!! Today was Mt. Zion's homecoming. It started with hair appointments. Then we had to get the house ready. We were so fortunate to have Angie next door stop by and take care of makeup. And the girls looked so beautiful!

I'm SO proud of these girls. They spend a lot of time with Mrs. Abbott the Spanish teacher and they decided that the focus period foreign girls to go to homecoming together. Mt. Zion has two new students from Korea who Leah decided to invite to join them…at the last minute…so I had a house full tonight. There was so much talking, laughing and giggling coming from my dining room. I'm so happy that they are kind and made sure to include others who otherwise might not have experienced their first High School Homecoming. Such a lovely group of girls.

They had the right idea, planning dinner at home. Lucky for me we had the stadium grill cater in smothered chicken and rice. Mrs. Abbott provided dessert. The girls all left for the dance around 8:20 and by 10:00 they called me for a ride home. They said the dance was boring…pictures and dinner with friends was the best part! I’m glad they had fun, and they looked so beautiful!

Homecoming week

We've got spirit, yes we do! We've got spirit, how 'bout you!?!? This week is homecoming week and I did a terrible job getting pictures of the girls for theme day. Yesterday was the parade. Kiersten marched with the band. Carla rode with the Cross Country team and Leah went with the Medics club. Today was the assembly, and they're currently trying to stay dry at the football game. Next up…their 1st homecoming dance!

Fall Festival at Church

Tonight I will go to bed with a grateful heart, for a church youth group and a Director if Childrens Education who fills our cup…the cup of teenage girls…in a time when they need it the most!! Thank you Malinda and St. John’s Decatur. These girls had so much fun playing on the inflatables and the Hawaiian Ice was a special treat!

Rader Farms with ICES

First trip to the pumpkin patch is in the books! Carla and Leah had an event with ICES. The group was doing the moonlight corn maze. So to Bloomington we went! We had our flashlights ready to go. But the best part was probably the pumpkin donuts and the apple cider slushies!
