Bear Down, Arizona!!!

Wow, Wow, Wow!!! What an incredible season!!! This week my sister coached her team to the Women's NCAA Golf Championship Title. We are so incredibly proud. This season has been a long haul on a rough road. But they persevered!!! The only thing better than watching your sister win the Championship Title is watching your kids watch their Aunt win! What a high!!!

Arizona was in third but after a particularly rough day, they ended up in a playoff for the 8th spot in Match play. In an unbelievable eagle putt by Bianca Pagdaganan they clinched the number 8 spot. In round one they went up against the #1 seeded UCLA Bruins and knocked them out. Then they went up against  #4 Stanford. They made it to the Championship round!!! It was #2 seed Alabama against #8 seed Arizona. With the match tied 2-2 it went in to extra holes and Haley Moore clinched the win. We were watching from the Ipad in the YMCA lobby. We were probably being a little bit rowdy and loud but man oh man, what a fun night!!! So proud of Laura and her girls...and absolute inspiration!

Field Trip!

Schools out for Summer!!! Ahhhh, how can this be??? This week the girls had their end of the year field trips and play days at school. So of course, Kiersten and Hattie had their field trips on the same day. I had already signed up to help Bugs class so I was grateful for friends who sent pics of Hattie on her trip.

Kiersten's class was supposed to start at the Park in Sullivan and then go swimming in the Community Center. Unfortunatley the night before storms had gone through. There were too many limbs down in Sullivan so we detoured to Fletcher Park here in Mt. Zion. The kids didn't mind. After some play time and lunch we headed to Sullivan. They loved swimming in the pool.

Hattie's class went to Ergadoozy over in Springfield. She had a blast and now I need to put it on my list of places to visit this summer. Shortly after they returned to school I got a call to come get Hattie. She had a 103 fever! I took her to urgent care and she tested positive for Strep. How the heck does that happen in MAY!?!? Poor kid was a trooper!

Leah is 9!!!

Well she's officially halfway to adulthood! It's been a whirlwind of a birthday week. It stared last weekend with her friend party. She decided to do a roller skating party, just like Kiersten, because it allowed her to invite the most friends. Mark Mavis, Landon McGeorge, Luke Shuffitt, Alex Strong, Camryn White, Makenzie Robinson, Eleanor Short, Lucy Craig, Ella Phares and Audrey Brent all joined us for the afternoon. What a great group of kids!!! They enjoyed skating, pizza and cupcakes.

On her real birthday she had a class trip to Staerkel Planeterium over in Champaign. I would have gladly joined them but they didn't ask for chaperones. So that morning she had her birthday donut, and that night she got her traditional birthday ice cream cone. I wonder how many more years she will let us do that?!?! The next day I took her lunch at school...Dorito Tacos from Taco Bell!

On Mother's Day we had our family celebration with Gigi, Papa and the rest of the family. These girls are certainly spoiled and without a doubt growing up too fast. Happiest of birthdays, to the one who made me a mom!

Little Violinist

This evening Leah had her spring orchestra concert. It's amazing how far they have come since their Christmas concert. Gigi and Papa had just returned home from Arizona on Sunday evening so there were able to come and join us. Papa was giving Leah a hard time. He asked her why her bow was never going the same direction as everyone elses? We are lucky to live in a district that really focuses on the arts. Well done Intermediate Band and Orchestra.

Batter Up!

It's that time of year again!!! The girls are kicking off the 2018 softball season, and of course, all three girls are on a different team. Bug is thrilled to be on Steve Hittmeiers team again with her friends Macy, River and AJ. Leah is on the same team as Camryn White and Mackenzie Robinson, and Hattie is on the Kistenfergers team with Kylie Jo! We are ready to go...hoping for a great season!

Wrapping up the school year!

I can hardly believe that Kindergarten is almost over!!! Hattie has had such a great year at McGaughey, and she adores Ms. Perry. Since I started subbing a few months ago, I've enjoyed getting to see her in action. Every Friday they do something called "high five Friday". High School Athletics come and greet the kids as they are walking in to school. I was lucky to be subbing on the Friday that the Poms team was there and Hattie got to high five our babysitter, Morgan!

Hattie and I had a great time at the book fair. She picked out a few good reads, My Little Pony, of course and a princess book too. Then she went to show me her name on the Random Acts of Kindness Board. If a student gets caught being kind, a teacher can tell them to sign their name on the board. Hattie was thrilled to get her name on the board and excited to show me. It's been a great year, and it's hard to believe we only have one more year left at McGaughey.

Swim, Hattie!

This week Hattie's class has had swim lessons at the Y! She's already a pretty good swimmer, but it was fun to see her in the water. Mitch helped the class one day and I helped twice. Being in the pool with a class of kindergartners makes you feel like a drowned rat! LOL!

My friend Traci Renfro took these pictures of Hattie and they were so cute I had to share.
