Red October!

Its been a wild ride!!! But once again, the Cardinals have clinched their division and are heading into the post-season! For a while there it seemed like we would be lucky to clinch the wild-card, but after injuries we came back strong and we are IN!!!

So in honor of our favorite team here are just a few of the highlights from the season. Mitch and I had a small season ticket pack with the Habrocks and were able to make it to a "few" other games...okay, 12 total. Leah even got to go on Labor day with daddy and Papa hosted an early "Christmas" party for his managers in a suite so we got to go to that game too! It's been another great year for Cardinals baseball...and the Schultz family :)

Grandparents Day!

Last week, McGaughey Elementary School hosted Grandparents day! This is just one of the reasons I am so thankful that we made the decision to move back closer to home. Of course, Gigi came to spend the morning with Leah. And of course, Leah was super excited to share everything "1st grade" with her Gigi. Blessed doesn't even begin to describe how I feel at times. My kids live close enough to family that they have a very close relationship with them. I remember being close to cousins when I was growing up, but I didn't see my granparents regularly. The closeness between Gigi and the girls is a special sort of love. I know this winter when she goes to Arizona for a few months there will be lots of phone calls and face timing because all three girls will be lost without Gigi.

Anyway, at Grandparents day Leah got to show Gigi her school, and all the fun things that she is doing in 1st grade. They even got to write a journal entry. Leah wrote about how Gigi takes her and her sisters and cousins to the  movies. She thinks it is so much fun and they really like popcorn. The day was a success. That night as I was getting ready for bed I got a text message. I opened it up and it was this selfie picture of Gigi and Leah. I cried. What a special bond these two have. And what an amazing Grandma to remember to capture this special day!

I was missing my own Grandmother this past week. The weekend marked two years since she passed. She loved seeing my girls, and I always take comfort in knowing she got to meet Hattie before she passed. I know she loved seeing them and I know she is still watching over them. Ever since she was born people, myself included have recognized how very much Leah looks like Grandma Schaumburg. We get to carry her on in our hearts with Leah's smile.

Busch Stadium

If you know our family at ALL, you know just how much we LOVE the Cardinals! Love might actually be an understatement. I for one, am borderline obsessed. When we first moved to our new home and I couldn't watch Cardinal games for awhile I was going crazy. And what I love even more than my team is that my husband shares my love for the team. It's become our "thing"! When our nest is empty and the kids are long gone we will go to games and celebrate the wins and lament the losses together. And the girls are getting old enough now, that they are totally into it too! They recognize a game on TV and cheer for our team. They look at the score and say "yay, we're winning!" Even Hattie at two years old likes to throw her arms up and yell "Go Cardinals!"

About a year and a half ago, Brooke Boyer took pictures of the girls for me and she mentioned that she was tossing around the idea of doing Busch Stadium photo shoots. For once, Mitch was all for me spending money on pictures. We told her we were definitely interested, so this photo shoot was a year in the making. We paid for it in April and the date was set. Of course the summer was totally mild but the hottest day of the summer was the day we were on the field. It was 100 degrees in St. Louis with a heat index of 106...it was a scorcher! Fortunately you can't tell in the pictures...but even the cotton candy melted! I couldn't be more thrilled with how they turned out. They are already hanging proudly in my home. Go Cardinals!!!

Hello, Mt. Calvary!!!

This past week, Kiersten started 4 year old Preschool!!! Since we moved she is going to a new school, Mt. Calvary Lutheran in South Shores. We went and visited and registered last year while our house was on the market just to be sure that she had a place to go IF our house should sell...well, then it did! She was super excited when we visited because they have a class Guinea Pig named Ziggy AND she already had two little friends that went to preschool there, Emerson Zavela and Stella King. We recently found out that Emerson is moving to Ohio soon, so we are totally bummed about that, but we are going to enjoy the time that we have left with her, for sure. And we take dance with Stella at Richland!

She was so excited for her first day...just look at the stylish outfit, confident pose and big grin on her face. I have no doubt that Miss Kiersten is going to take Preschool by storm. I hope Mrs. Kurecki and Mrs. Pressly are ready for my little Bug!

Labor Day Weekend

The weather for Labor Day weekend was amazing. We spent so much of the weekend outside. When we sold our house on Dagmar I was so upset thinking about how much I was going to miss our big yard with all the mature trees...but the truth is, we've adjusted very nicely to the new yard. I think the girls actually enjoy this one more, for the simple fact that all the trees don't get in the way!

On Sunday night we were sitting on the screened in porch watching the girls play when Mitch decided that we needed a fire. And it just so happened that we actually had marshmallows still from Grandma Tootie and Grandpa Dave's visit in July. So we busted them out and had a good time just sitting around the fire. The girls have sat around enough fires now that they do really well...they keep their distance and the LOVE to roast their own marshmallows, lightly toasted not burnt. We have the best daddy!
