One of the hardest goodbyes I’ve ever had to say: I can’t give enough thanks to this team, to this sport, to my coaches, and to my teammates. These last three years have brought so much joy into my life. This team has seen me at my worst and my best. My coaches were everything I could have asked for, teaching me lessons I will carry throughout my life. This team truly became a second family. No matter the mood I walked in with, I always left practice smiling. When I was struggling, they took me in and rebuilt my love for the sport. To my teammates, and the friends I made because of this team, thank you for everything. The bus rides, the dinners, the dual meets, the invitationals. Those moments are some of my best memories from high school. The love and support I felt over these three years meant everything. Whether I needed a hug, someone to hype me up, or someone to talk to, you were always there. This sport has shaped who I am. It has taught me how to push through hardship, celebrate victories, show up for others, and believe in myself. I’m going to miss all of it more than I can put into words. Here’s to the team that changed my life, and to carrying everything you taught me into whatever comes next!
Additions from mom-seeing the relay get on the podium twice was amazing. And watching Leah lead this team until the very end brought us so much joy. Thankful for this team and what it meant to her these past few years.
