Frances Schultz

A Baby and God:
Once upon a time there was a child ready to be born. the child asked God, "They tell me you are sending me to Earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?" God replied, "Among the angels, I'll choose one for you. your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you." The child further inquired, "But tell me, here in heaven I don't have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy." God said "Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you everyday. And you will feel your angels love and be very happy."

Again the child asked, "and how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don't know the language?" God said, "Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak." "And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?" God said, "Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray."

"I've heard that on Earth there are bad people. Who will protect me?" God said, "Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life." "But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore." God said, "Your angel will always talk to you about me and will teach you the way to come back to me, even though I will always be next to you." At that moment there was much peace in heaven, but voices from Earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, "God, if I am to leave now, please tell me my angel's name?" God replied, "Her name is not important, you will simply call her Grandma."

Yesterday we lost our preciou Grandma Fran. She had fallen ill and we knew her days were limited but that brings little comfort. And while I've only known Fran for 12 years I feel blessed to have been welcomed into her family. And I feel so fortunate that the girls were able to feel her love and spend time in their youth getting to know her. She loved fishing, she loved being with her family and she never let anyone leave her house hungry. We would stop to see her in Mondovi, anytime that we were passing through. She always made sure there was food on the table. Even at 89, she remembered to send the girls cards for Christmas, Valentines and she never missed a birthday. Just a few weeks ago, Kiersten received her birthday card and Leah said to her "Make sure you keep that one,Kiersten. We don't know how much longer we will have Grandma Fran." It was the next day her heart started to fail. Even in her final days, we were told that Grandma started each day with a smile. She will be missed dearly and loved for always.

Father-Daughter Dance 2018

This weekend was the annual Father-Daughter Dance sponsored by the Mt. Zion Community Club and this years theme was Hollywood Red Carpet. These three were definitely red carpet ready. Every year when I help them get ready Iget a little glimpse of what it will be like to help them when they are preparing for High School Dances. I started nails at 1, and then took a little break until a little after 3. By then it was time to start on all that hair and sure enough at 5:30 I was rushing to wrap it up. But they are only little for a short time, and soon they won't want my help, so I help while I can. I think they all looked beautiful.

They had so much fun at the event. I worked at the front desk taking tickets for a while and then I moved on to helping at the snack table. I told Mitch to make sure to get pics of the girls...he said Leah and Hattie would be easy, but he hadn't seen Bug all night. She was having a great time running around, dancing and playing with her friends. Hattie was cracking me up. She continued to drag every little friend that she knew over to me so I could get a picture of them together. Leah is growing up too fast. It's hard to say if she will even want to go next year. She was disappointed that not many of her friends were in attendance. The days are long but the years are short.

She's 8 and can skate!

Skate and 8, totally cheesy play on words...I had to do it! For Kiersten's 8th birthday she wanted a roller skating party so thats what she got. We hosted 12 friends, Emma and Elizabeth Oost, Emma Ulis, Stella King, Lainie Cooper, Ariel Southerland, Macy Hittmeier, River Johnson, Ariel Southerland, Ella Spaide, Cayde and Camryn White!!! It was a  full house, but they all got along so well and did a great job. After the first hour, Kiersten got called out on the floor where they sang Happy Birthday to her and gave her a balloon. All the girls enjoyed cupcakes and pizza...but mostly they just wanted to skate. We didn't even have time to open the presents! A good time was had by all.

Two weeks earlier while Mitch and I were on vacation Gigi had a family party for Kiersten with Uncle Matt and Aunt Cynthia. She got to bake cookies, made her own cake and opened up lots of gifts from Aunt and Uncles. She is certainly loved.

8 is Great!

Happy 8th Birthday to my sweet Kiersten Laura! It's just crazy to me that we are already here. You are no longer my baby girl, you are blossoming into a beautiful young lady. I love your caring heart, always happy to help. Your desire to learn is amazing, and its so fun to watch you in the kitchen with your dad. It won't be long before you are a better cook than I am. This year you have really blossomed. Excelling at swim, piano and reading up a storm. You bring us so much joy. I hope you never lose your sassy little spirit. Have a great day, lil' Bug!

Dominican Republic

Every once in a while, Mitch and I get the chance to sneak away for a little rest and relaxation! A little time to unwind and reconnect. This year we went to the Barcelo Bavaro resort in Punta Cana and it was fabulous. I've never walked on softer sand. The blue of the ocean was breathtaking and the resort was fantastic. It helped a little that we got upgraded to a suite...but then again, we spent such little time in our room that it didn't really make much difference. Except that private jetted tub on our balcony. It was fantastic and we soaked every night!

The resort had a fantastic gym so we were able to get our workouts in too. They even offered a spin class. They offered Hydrotherapy, which we partook in every afternoon. We had a couples massage and I even indulged in a mud wrap! All of the restaurants and buffets that we visited had wonderful food with lots of choices. One disclaimer...Dominican Tequila is not nearly as good as Mexican Tequila. But you can't have it all and I'd go back in a heartbeat. Especially with my partner, love of my life and best friend. I love that we get these chances to be together and remember all the reasons that we fell in love!
