FNCV Autonómico

Not speaking the language, we sometimes don’t have the slightest idea what is going on with swim team. But we did know that “autonómico” was the “goal” for the season. Similar to how “state” is the goal back home. Well Kiersten kicked it into gear and managed to get a state qualifying time for the 100 fly, 100 breast and the 200 Individual Medley!!!

She was able to get her fly and IM times early on in the season. But it was just two weeks ago she had one last shot to get the breast stroke time. Not only did she get the time, but she got it in Kiersten fashion dropping 5 seconds at the last meet. And when asked if she was excited she calmly said “that’s what I came to do!”

So this weekend Mitch took her to Alzira to compete. Kiersten was a ball of nerves. She did well and swam her seed time in the 100 breast. You can’t complain about swimming a seed time when you just swam it two weeks prior, but she wasn’t happy. So she kicked it in to high gear on her 200 medley and dropped 6 seconds!!! The 100 fly was scheduled for Sunday morning. She decided to scratch the event so she could ride the bus with her classmates for the school ski trip. More details on that coming soon. But for her first autonómico, we couldn’t be more proud of her effort!
