Chocolate Eggs

We had an awesome Easter weekend! We started planning back in January for a mini family vacation. Fortunately we were able to convince Mitch's family to join us and we all ended up at the Three Bears Lodge in Warrens, WI. Two family suites later we were all set up in our accommodations and it worked out perfectly. Each family was responsible for planning one meal, and the "moms" made arrangements for Easter baskets/eggs.

You would think that being in a hotel might hinder the egg hunt, but that was NOT the case. On Saturday while the little girls slept, the Big girls (Shelby, Lexi and Rylee) filled 115 plastic eggs with all sorts of goodies. The Dad's and Justin and Bradyn went to golf a quick 9 holes and when they got back Shelby and Rylee went out to hide the eggs on the hotel grounds...they stood watch too, so that no one would "find" them. When the girls got outside and realized what we were doing they were SO excited. Their faces were priceless and it was so hard to get any good pictures because they were running around with all the excitement. There were lots of "look at this" and "Oh, another one" and it was so sweet to see them running all over the place. Kiersten kept shaking the eggs and saying "oooh" and when she got one open she screamed with excitement "A Chocolate Egg!" Leah was a little more calm about it...It was almost like she knew there was candy in them and she wanted to fill her basket as quickly as possible. And fill it she did...her basket was overflowing and she had to have help carrying the overflow. It was great!

On Sunday morning after breakfast everyone went down to the waterpark for one last quick swim. Once we headed back upstairs to get ready to go home, we found that the Easter Bunny had visited and left baskets. He was super good to the girls with lots of Chocolate Bunnies, kites, bubbles, pajamas and more. They loved it. Of course now I am talking to the girls about how Easter isn't just about the chocolate and the Bunny. I think it's working because Leah was telling Gigi all about how Jesus died on the cross and rose again when we saw her today. The girls couldn't believe it, the Easter Bunny left baskets at Gigi's house too, so she brought them to us today and took us out to lunch. Leah always requests The Olive Garden, so that's where we went...again. All of the Easter Baskets have been delivered and the girls are certainly loved!
