4th of July
We kept things pretty low key this year for the 4th of July. Mitch's parents and grandma Fran joined us for the holidays. According to them, we were having a raging party, LOL. I explained that they missed the epic cookout we had in June with over 40 people. Anyway, lots of our friends already had plans for the holiday either traveling or with family, but my friends Missy, Denise and Nicole were free so we had them head on over. Since we live so close to the lake, it's really easy to just walk over to the bank and watch the firework show. But before all that happened, the kids had a great time just playing in the yard. The grown ups played bags and there was PLENTY of food, of course. Tootie brought Rice Krispie bars with Carmel that were a huge hit and her Dorito salad. We provided the meat and I made an avocado dip. Denise brought mac-n-cheese and Bruschetta and sangria. Nicole brought a fiesta corn dish. Missy brought fruit kabobs in red white and blue. No one went hungry.
Grandma Tootie and Grandpa Dave stopped in Wisconsin for fireworks. They put on a good show for everyone. And brought tons of sparklers for the little ones. They were a big hit. And of course Ms. Denise brought glow sticks. While everyone went down to the fireworks I stayed behind and cleaned up the house. I could hear when the show was over, and so I got the goodies ready to make smores. Grandpa Dave and Mitch had the fire going in no time. The kids were super excited. Everyone got a treat as they sat around the campfire. Leah said "Hey, lets tell ghost stories." And little Roman got up and high tailed it out of there so fast. He was stuck to Grandma Fran's lap after that. It was so cute.
It was a great time, and it may have to become a Schultz Family Tradition!
