Barnes Day 2

Today was just amazing! We fit in all the things. The weather was beyond gorgeous!!! Mitch and I started the day with a good long kayak trip...my arms were tired. The kids kayaked and paddle boarded around the dock and then we had lunch. After lunch we took turns hauling kids down to the inlet where the river meets the lake. There is a decent current and the water is super shallow so we anchored the boat and hung out there for a few hours. The boat next to us had the cutest little yellow lab pup and then an older lady kayaked by with two Aussie pups. The kids were trying to catch sunfish with their nets and the dragonfly’s continually took breaks on the top of Mitch and Matt’s hat. After awhile the guys took the kids tubing. We got back to our cabin around 4:30 and got dinner ready while the kids played a little more.

All this fishing is paying off because we had an amazing fish fry dinner. It was good stuff. We told the guys they need to catch some more so we can do it again. So after dinner the grown ups went out on the boat and that’s just what the guys did. Mitch and Matt both reeled in some pretty nice Pike. Cynthia and I were surely the good luck charms. Although Cynthia was giving us a good laugh...she was pretty sure Mitch caught an alligator and she bough jumped off the boat.

After we came back in we attempted a campfire. The wood was a little too wet and we really couldn’t get it going...but we made it work long enough for s’mores! Big win of a day.
