Mount Lycabettus

Another great day for us here in Athens. We took our time getting moving this morning after a late night. We weren’t sure if much would be open today for the holiday so we planned a quick hike.

We headed up to Mount Lycabettus late this morning. We passed an ancient bathhouse in a nearby park in the way and then we went by the tomb of the Unknown Soldier in front of the government building.

The climb to the top was quite a haul, but it was such a beautiful day with temps in the mid 60’s. I couldn’t believer all the cactus we passed on our way to the top. It definitely had Arizona on our minds. And of course the views from the top were amazing.

After we headed down we just wandered a bit. We sat in Syntagma Plaza for a bit and then found a place for lunch. We passed a few Roman Agora’s and ended the day with some tasty gelato! Leah tried the Chili Chocolate, Kiersten had the Crema Catalana and Hattie had Tangerine. Mitch and I shared some fig, pear and pistachio. Gonna rest up for day 3!
