So technically Mitch had the first birthday in Spain but we’d only been here 10 days. So it was much easier to plan and celebrate number 12 for our Bug!!!
She wanted to celebrate with friends. We had a few ideas in mind, but ended up taking a few friends bowling at Illusiona on Heron City. It was fun to see them all interacting together. It was quite the melting pot for our American girl. Her friend Daniel is from Valencia here in Spain. Marley is from England. Emilia is Japanese American and spent the last several years living in Japan before coming to Spain two years ago and Ana Lucia is from South America, Honduras I believe, but previously lived in the United States. They had a lot of fun bowling. Ana Lucia won the first game and Kiersten won the second.
After bowling we went back to our house where they opened gifts, enjoyed Pizza and chips and a delicious chocolate cake from Horno Pastelería.
On Kierstens actual birthday we had our traditional ice cream cone, only it was much BIGGER and better than any cone we’ve ever had at DQ. For breakfast she blew out the candles on a fruit tart, and when she got home there was a mountain of gifts and cards waiting from friends and family back home. Mitch and so surprised her with black onyx and pearl earrings she had her eye on in Greece! I think this was a birthday she will never forget!
