Batter Up!
Leah has a new favorite literary character...Curious George. As we are getting her ready for bed each night she starts repeatedly asking for "George, George, George" so every night we read a Curious George story to her at bedtime. We have 5 different ones, but a favorite of hers and mine is Curious George Makes Pancakes. She will let you know which book she wants to read, she will say "George, cakes" or "George, puppies". I think it's pretty cute, but anyway.
This past Saturday morning she and her daddy got up and decided to make a Pancake Breakfast!!! I love getting treated to a good hot breakfast but it's even better when it's made for you by the ones you love.
These pictures are of Leah helping to mix up the batter. Daddy even let her help pour the batter into the skillet. She did a good job and it was a YUMMY breakfast. Not too bad, for my little monkey.

Heat Wave
I have to admit that I am feeling a little bit bad about this...but not really. While our friends and family in Illinois and Minnesota have been hit with desperately cold temperatures, way below zero wind chills and snow and freezing rain...the weather here in New Jersey has been fairly pleasant. Well, as pleasant as the weather can be for January. I think we have only had a few days where the temp dropped below 30 and I think I have seen a slight dusting of snow that barely even covered the ground. Most days have been pretty sunny, and although it is no cause for celebration we have had lots of days with temps in the 40's pushing 50. Last week we even let Leah go outside and play for a while. She is really getting to that age where she enjoys our dogs. One of her favorite things to say is "no no, puppy!" she's really good at that one, and it's always fun to see her pull on Sandy's tail and ears and chase her around. Sandy takes it all in stride, but Leah just laughs hysterically. Imagine the fun that Leah will have this summer playing out in the yard with Neo. Neo loves to play fetch. That's actually an understatement. You can throw a stick, a ball, a frisbee, anything and the dog will chase after it and return it to you. Leah tries to do this with his big rope tug, but it is almost as big as she is. She hasn't quite got the hang of it yet, but it's sure cute to watch her try. Anyway, here are some pictures of her playing out back with "YEE-YO" that's how she pronounces Neo. I love that my girl loves her dogs, and I am so happy that they love her too. Can't wait for those summer days and some good games of fetch.

Crowded
Look carefully...can you see Leah sleeping peacefully among the mess? This has become a regular occurrence since she moved into her big girl bed. For some reason she can't go to sleep unless she drags a whole lot of toys to bed with her. I count 3 babies, some play fruit, a purse, some blocks, her leapfrog alphabet explorer and 3 books. And yet, she is snoring away. This isn't just a nap time phenomenon either. She does the same thing at bed time and Mitch and I end up going in there and taking all the toys off the bed. The last thing I need is for her to roll over on something that makes noise and wake her self up in the middle of the night. This girl is just too funny!
Overall, the transition into her new room and her big girl bed has been a smooth one. No railing and she hasn't fallen out once. She stays pretty stationary. That's a far cry from when she was in the crib. It seemed that in the crib every time we looked in on her she would be facing another direction. I just hope she continues to do well once the baby arrives and moves into her crib, and is waking us all up during the middle of the night for feedings.
I had my 32 week check-up on Tuesday. Still having some braxton-hicks contractions but I have really slowed down and they seem to be less frequent than they were during the holidays. The baby is in a transverse position more times than not. I can feel the little hiccups far on my right and little kicks over on my left. Let's hope that this baby starts cooperating and goes head down soon. I will have another ultrasound around 36-37 weeks to check the position of the baby before we make any decisions regarding the repeat C-section or VBAC. I go again in 2 weeks and then every week after that. It's hard to believe that the baby will be here soon. I have no clue what we are in store for!!!

Happy Twenty-Ten!!!
So I'm a week late, but things have been busy around here. Santa was good to Leah this year. Well, kind of...he spent a lot of money, but there was only a few toys. Leah's big gift this year was her new "big-girl bed." We have been slowly transitioning her out of the nursery, and into what WAS our guest room, so that we can get the nursery ready for baby 2. Well, it isn't taking long for Leah to adjust...but it never has. Lucky for us, she transitions really well, away from the bottle, away from the pacifier and now into her new bed. We have got some of her toys in there, and she has been playing in there really well.
The first night went smooth. Mitch laid her down, read her a story and turned out the lights. She cried for just a few minutes...I'm not going to lie, I did too. It was sad to think of my BABY not needing to sleep in a crib anymore, it made me nostalgic for when she was tiny and would just curl up and sleep on my chest, or tuck her head in under her daddy's chin for a little cat nap. The second and third nights were not as smooth. She was waking up in the middle of the night and not wanting to go back down, but then last night she finally slept through the night again. She is waking up a little earlier than normal but I think that is because the "Pink" Room-darkening curtains haven't arrived yet and it's a little bright in there for her.
So Happy New Year! Happy new beginnings with our beautiful Leah and to the new beginning we are about to embark on with baby number 2. I can't wait to see what 2010 has in store for us. I just know it's going to be a great year for us, and I am hoping that it will be equally great for all of our friends and family.
