My Girly Girl

My adorable little toddler Leah is entering a fun little stage...the girly girl stage. Everyday I know I will hear two things out of her mouth. First off "dress mommy, dress" This is what she asks to wear every day...and secondly she will say "piggy's mommy, piggy's?" This is what she says when she wants me to put her hair in pig-tails or a pony tail. I LOVE that her hair is finally long enough for me to do this!!! Now if you have ever been around Leah you are thinking "WHAT???" She is the biggest tom-boy, rough and tumble little toddler. She likes to play in the dirt and she will climb just about anything, but hey...at least now she looks good doing it! The other day she went so far as to even play dress-up with our dog Neo...he tolerated the necklaces but when she pulled out the make-up he drew the line. Just kidding of course, I don't let Leah play with make-up...yet!!!

Colby's birthday

Lucky for us, while we were home we got to be apart of Colby's 1st birthday. It was a great chance for us to catch up with all of our family which is something we don't get to do near often enough. Not everyone was there, but it sure was a full house. Tiffany and Chad came with their 2 kids. Tara, Jason and Jameson, Paul, Michele and their boys...Dave, Althea, Grandma and Grandpa, Trina, Laura, My parents, My family and of course Matt, Cynthia, Macy and the birth day boy.

It was a REALLY hot and humid Illinois June day, but we made the best of it. It's always chaotic to get the Myerscough's together but always such a good time. I think the last picture of all the great-grandkids says it all...Try getting them to all look at the camera at the same time, ha ;)

Grandpa doesn't ever pass up an opportunity for cake and ice cream :)

Gigi and the birthday boy!

Colby couldn't wait to get started!

Daddy's Girls

Some might say that Mitch is pretty lucky. He has two healthy, rambunctious, adorable little girls, but the truth is...they are pretty lucky too. Not every child has a father as devoted and caring as Mitch. He is so selfless, and makes sure that his life revolves around his little angels. He definitely has his priorities right. I can't thank him enough for being the wonderful hands-on father that he is...and he makes it look so easy!!! Leah is a daddy's girl without a doubt and I am sure that Kiersten will be a daddy's girl in no time. But I'm not complaining. I wouldn't have it any other way. Thank you, Mitch...for constantly bringing a smile to our girl's faces. For being the rough and tumble, tickle them to the ground...play with them until they are laughing silly kind of dad. You make our house feel like a home and give true meaning to the word family. Happy Father's Day 2010! Love you, ALL your girls

3 months old

Yep, My little Peanut is 3 months old. Well, actually she was 3 months old last week but we were in Illlinois so I am just now blogging about it. This morning I took her in for her 3 month check-up. Her last appointment was May 17th and she weighed 9 lbs 11 oz...this month she was up to 10 lbs 14 oz...woo hoo! She is still only in the 10th percentile but the doctor and I were both happy with her gain. He would like to see at least another pound and a half for her next appointment in July...so we will work on it. She was 24 inches long which was the 50th percentile and her head was 44 cm which was also in the 50th percentile.

Developmentally she is doing great. She bears weight on her legs, has great head and neck support. She looks around the room and is tracking objects with her eyes. She babbles and coos a lot and is doing great when it comes to sleeping. Usually 9:30 pm to 5 am, up for a quick bite to eat and then back down until 8 or 9. I can't complain, she lets me sleep much more than Leah did. She is also discovering her hands and feet. She is constantly trying to chew/suck on her hands and/or fingers and she loves to kick her feet. I think in the next few weeks she is definitely going to start playing with her feet, grabbing them etc. It is so much fun to watch all the changes. She is really starting to develop her own personality and I love it. And I love you too, Kiersten!

For the First Time...

Our trip home for Kiersten's baptism was the first time that most of our family got to meet our newest addition. Kiersten was fortunate to meet almost all of my cousins on the Myerscough side. All of her aunts and uncles, Schultz cousins and great-grandparents. Here are a few pictures of her with some of them.

Kiersten's baptism

On May 26th Mitch and I loaded up our SUV and headed for Illinois...we're crazy right!?!? Who drives 13.5 hours with a toddler and an infant? WE DO! We've had actually gotten really good at the long drives with Leah...we knew how to time it just right and Mitch and I would take turns sleeping and driving, but then you throw Kiersten in the mix...and it turned out okay. That's all I am going to say about that. But I did remind Mitch a few times that Leah didn't make the long drive until she was 7 months old, so in all fairness Kiersten did pretty good! Pumping breastmilk in the front seat of my truck though is not something I want to make a habit of doing.

Anyhow, We had a wonderful baptism weekend. The church even put together a movie to play in the ceremony. It had pictures of Kiersten and our family as well as some little video clips set to a beautiful Christian song. I would try to upload it to share with everyone, but I left it in Illinois. We were fortunate that Mitch's family was able to come from Minnesota to share in the special event. We planned it in Illinois because there was no way we could ask them to make the 25 hour drive from MN to NJ or to pay for that many plane tickets. So Kiersten was baptized in the same church that my brother, sister, Leah and I were all baptized in and we have all worn the same gown. It is the gown that my Grandpa Schaumburg bought 30+ years ago for me to wear at my baptism which makes it even more special. Kiersten was sponsored by my brother Matt and his wife Cynthia, and Mitch's brother Brian and his wife Lisa. She is such a blessing to us all and we are so happy that she is a part of the church family now too, as well as ours.

Ah Ha!

Okay, so these pictures aren't mine...I pirated them from my friend Kelly's facebook page, but I figured that it was one way to get a blog with pictures done while I am still here in Illinois, and I know she won't mind.

This past Friday (June 4th) we got to go to a birthday party at John and Debbie Smith's house for their grandson Lukas. Happy 2nd Birthday, Lukas! Leah loved playing with Lukas and Marek and the grandparents sure seemed to have fun showing off their grandkids. It was fun for me too. I got to catch up with some mom-friends that I rarely get to see. Kelly was at my sister's wedding last summer. She probably didn't know that I was pregnant because I was only about 6 weeks along and not sharing the news. But she has a little man now, Noah, who is a month younger than Kiersten. And Allison...I don't know when the last time I saw her was?!? It was probably the early 2000's I remember her singing a little something about "sipping bacardi like it's your birthday" out at the Country Club one night when she was home from the city. She has a precious little girl, Cora, who is 9 months. It was fun to see them and their babes. I wish the weather was cooperating in Illinois right now, and I might have seen a little more of them out at the pool, but we can't have it all. Anyway, it was fun to catch up and here are a few pictures from that night. Gigi and Kiersten

Blogging hiatus

It's been a while since my last post. That's because I am in Illinois visiting family. We got here on May 27th and I don't return home until the 12th. SO, I don't have my computer and I can't figure out how to get my pictures on my dad's laptop?!? I hate to blog without pictures so that is the hold up. It's been a busy and enjoyable vacation so far. Mitch's family joined us on the 29th and Kiersten was baptized on the 30th. On the 3rd I got to go out for a girls night to celebrate my birthday. My sister arrives tonight to meet Kiersten for the first time and this Saturday is Colby's birthday party. I just love being able to spend this time with my family, but it's hard not having Mitch here with us. He was here, but flew home to New Jersey on the 31st. He flies back in on the 10th and we drive home together on the 12th. Time certainly flies when you are having fun...Next week after I get home I will be a mad-blogger trying to get back up-to-date. Until then, Enjoy the summer sun!
