Palacio Real de Madrid

One thing we discovered pretty quickly while living in Europe is that we are a big fan of Royal Palaces! They have so much history. Madrid is the the home of Spanish Royals so the Royal Palace was a must-see.

The Royal Palace of Madrid is the largest in Western Europe and one of the largest in the world. With over 135,000 square metres and 3,418 rooms, it has witnessed centuries of Spanish history. It is one of the few official seats of a Head of State that is open to the public. Almost 2 million visitors come every year to discover its rooms, works of art and treasures that are unique in the world.

Madrid, your palace did not disappoint. The details were amazing. We left there and I knew I needed to start studying my Spanish history. King Carlos, King Ferdinand…the decor was spectacular. I loved all the chandeliers. The girls were pretty impressed as well.

There was a young lady touring near us. She must have been an instagrammer/influencer of some sort. She had a doll that she was posing and photographing in different rooms. She missed so much of the experience because she was focused on her phone. I told my girls that I hoped that it was a lesson to be in the moment and enjoy all the places we’ve been and the things we’ve seen.

After we toured the palace we did what we always do! Helado!!! Ellen and Hattie were too cute with their matching cheesecake and leche merengada dulces.
