Barcelona and Montjuïc

Since October 9th and October 12th are holidays here in Spain, the girls are out of school for a few days. We decided to use Rover (an app) and found the most amazing dog sitters…who speak English, and keep sending us wonderful updates on the dogs, and we headed North a bit to Barcelona!

We started at Mt. Tibidabo, where we struggled to find parking but eventually found a spot and hiked a quick trail and then we made our way into Barcelona. First stop was Castelle De Montjuïc. It was quite a hike, even just to get to the gondolas. Leah was not a fan, but it sure beat walking up those hills.

Castelle de Montjuïc is an old military fortress, with roots dating back from 1640, built on top of Montjuïc hill in Barcelona. It really did look like a military Arsenal and had a deep history of war.

In the late 19th century, Montjuïc was synonymous with barbarism based on the torture of anarchists and others imprisoned there. Good times…but the views did not disappoint!
