Pool Party

It wasn't really a pool party but it was a lot of fun all the same. And the pictures don't really do the day justice...I forgot my camera and had to use my phone, but it was FUN FUN FUN!

Matt and Cynthia are in Florida attending a family destination wedding (her family, not ours) so Mom and I were splitting up the babysitting duty. I took the dog for the 5 days and she took the kids...Just Kidding! I did take the dog, but we took Macy and Colby for a night too! Since they attend Immanuel Lutheran Daycare during the week I took the kids on Saturday night to give mom a break, gave her and dad a chance to go to dinner on Saturday night, and she got to go sing with the church choir on Sunday and not worry about who would sit with the kids. So Mitch and I had a house full on Saturday night.

4 kids
3 dogs
2 days
and 1 very tired set of parents, ha!

But really the kids did so good. Mitch had them out playing in the sprinkler Saturday afternoon. We ordered pizza for dinner and they were all definitely tired out and ready for bed. Of course they were up and at it early on Sunday...Mitch made Pink (PINKALICIOUS) pancakes with Macy and Leah for breakfast. The kids played outside and then watched a movie while Kiersten and Colby napped. After a macaroni and cheese lunch we headed to Mattoon where we met Gigi at the Mattoon Country Club pool. And to our surprise Papa came too. I can't recall the last time my dad came to the pool with us. Typically we were in the pool while he was on the course, it's probably been 20 years. Macy had fun swimming with Papa, and he taught Kiersten and Colby how to blow bubbles in the water. They though that was super fun. Gigi does a super job of holding on to Colby and Kiersten at the same time, although too big for her britches Kiersten thinks that she should be able to swim off on her own...it makes Gigi nervous. After being at the pool for two hours, we loaded up half of the foursome that we came with and headed home. The girls were wiped out...proof positive is the shot of them sleeping in the van which never happens in our quick hour drive. Truth be told, Mom and Dad were tired too but it's days like these that remind us how happy we are to be back home.
