Nurture out in Nature

I LOVE these pictures of Leah out on a hike! Mitch took her to Spitler Woods (Mt. Zion) last week and snapped these pictures with his phone. I thought that they were just too cute and I had to share them. He has wanted desperately to start doing outdoor things (camping, hiking) with the girls and with the excessive heat warnings that plagued us for most of July and August he is just now finally getting the chance.

Leah loved it. She threw a small fit because she wanted to wear her flip flops and we made her wear close-toed shoes but once they got there, Mitch said she did great. He didn't know it when they started out but they ended up doing a 2 mile trail and she was a trooper and finished on her own. Of course she had to stop here and there to pick up acorns, and she took a quick rest on a log so she could eat her granola bar and drink some water. BUT she finished...and fell asleep in the car on the way home. She asked Mitch a few times this weekend if they could go on a hike. Maybe it will become their daddy-daughter tradition. On the calendar this weekend is camping in Clinton...hopefully she will do just as well.
