Cullera

Today I was out-voted!!! It happens from time to time. I wanted to go do some hiking in the hills nearby but Mitch thought we should take advantage of the beach while the temps were still high. The girls agreed so we hit up another beach. Since we went a bit North last week, we headed further South this week.

Cullera and Platja Sant Antoni is about 40 minutes South of Valencia and it was gorgeous! It looked very “California” to me with the mountains and the palm trees, but the buildings were certainly a little more dated. But the streets and beach were so clean! The girls were split on whether they liked this beach or Puig more. The waves at Sant Antoni were much more intense…like knock you down crazy at some times, so Hattie wasn’t a big fan of that. Leah and Kiersten loved jumping and diving in the big waves. But they were disappointed because there were hardly any shells.

Two Sundays in a row we’ve packed a lunch and stayed out for several hours. But two Sundays in a row, the beach clears out around 1:30. They all pack up and go. We don’t mind having the place to ourselves, that’s for sure.

When we left the beach we drove around a bit, trying to find what looked like a huge chapel on a hill when we first came in to town. We never found it, but we did find some spectacular views. There were some really old winding roads and Mitch said reminded him of the Tour de España. We’ll definitely go back to Cullera!
