Margaret Island

Margitsziget or Margaret Island was a great spot to take in the outdoor life in Budapest. We were able to take the metro out there. We actually went twice. The first time Mitch, Kiersten and I went out in the morning to get in a run. Kiersten can now says she’s gone for a run in Spain, Austria and Hungary. The island had a great bike path/trail for running right alongside the Danube River.

We went as a family and rented a bicycle built for more than two. It was so fun pedaling around the island. The weather was great and the breeze felt fantastic. Afterwards we walked through the park. The water fountain had a great light show set to music. Mitch and I went and grabbed us a few cherry beers to enjoy. Then we walked through the “market” area with lots of great street food. We’ve really mastered Budapest public transportation and I’ve loved how easy it’s been for us to navigate this spectacular city.
