Stephansdom

Stephansdom (St. Stephens Cathedral) was high on my list of things to see. Especially the views from the tower…so we sure enough climbed the 350 steps on a tiny spiral staircase to get there. It was one of the first Romanesque Churches built in 1137 and consecrated in 1147. When we toured the inside there was a beautiful music group performing. The church contains catacombs, but they only give tours two times a day.

The roof is an interesting colored tile. The outside of the church has some interesting statues. It also had a memorial to Mozart. He was born in Salzburg and moved to Vienna when he was 4. He gave his first concert performance at the Imperial Apartments when he was only 6.
