Day 4, Antelope Island and Olympic Park

Neither of these places were new to the kids or myself, but we were certainly excited to show Ellen around Salt Lake City. For some people, Antelope Island may not seem that exciting, but when you come all the way from Illinois, you want to see the Salt Lake! So that's exactly what we did.

We had quite a trek out to the edge of the water, but it was fine. I ended up with Hattie on my back for a little while on the way to and from the waters edge, but it was fine. Of course, Leah was REALLY testing the waters. And I had to remind her that this time, her bag was back at Charlee's house so there were no clean clothes for her to change in to. They love going in to the welcome center and seeing all the different animals that live out there and learning about how the brine shrimp is the only life that lives in the lake. See, you learn something new everyday!

After we tested the Salt Lake waters we headed to Olympic Park...the same location as the winter Olympics in 2002. We had been there before but this time there was a lot more action. They were actually doing trials. We got to watch athletes practicing their ski jumps into the pool, and we watched some bobsled trials. They were going to fast I couldn't even tell you if it was 2 man or 4 man bobsled teams. This was probably one of the highlights of the trip for me. I love the Olympics so it was so cool to see a training facility in action!
