4th of July Festivities

For years I've heard all about how Arthur has the best fireworks in the area. So this year I told Mitch we needed to check it out for ourselves. It's supposed to be an all day festival with lots of activities. That kind of got ruined when it rained most of the day. AND it was only about 60 degrees..talk about a bummer. But we didnt let it rain ruin our plans. We headed over around 5:30 and got there at about 6. We didn't realize that the air show, among other activities, were cancelled because of the weather and cloud coverage. We managed to have fun anyway!

We got our blanket settled in a good spot. Then we walked around to check it all out. We let the girls decide what they wanted for dinner. Leah got nachos, Kiersten got a footlong corndog, Hattie had a hot dog and cheetos, Mitch had a gyro from Zorba's and I just had a burger...nothing fancy. After that we stayed on the blanket for a while playing Go Fish!

Then we ventured over to the inflatables. The girls had a great time and Leah even ran into her friend Caitlyn from softball. We took a bathroom break and then went and grabbed some popcorn so we'd have a snack for the show. We were back on our blanket a little after 8 and the show didn't start until 9:30. We passed the next hour with Uno and glow sticks. The fireworks started promptly at 9:30.

They started out like any ordinary fireworks show. But then they did the Vesuvius Volcano show. It was crazy, lots of big booms and fires low to the ground. Many thought that there had been a malfunction and some even left. The fires gave away and a waterfall of white lights appeared. It was impressive. It was a great time, so much needed family time with our crazy schedules. And I'm glad we've crossed Arthur Fireworks off our bucket list!
