Charles Bridge

Friday was a beautiful day in the Czech Republic! It was at least 10 degrees warmer, around 40, and the sun was out for a bit. Our first stop of the day was Charles Bridge. The Roman Emperor Charles IV laid the first brick himself in 1357!!!

As the only means of crossing the river Vltava until 1841, Charles Bridge was the most important connection between Prague Castle and the city's Old Town and adjacent areas. This land connection made Prague important as a trade route between Eastern and Western Europe.

The views of both sides of the river were wonderful. It was lovely to look at Prague Castle and the churches in Old Town. We took our time looking from lots of different places.
