Prague Eats!

Part of the fun of traveling is trying the local cuisine. We have our EU COVID passports but we’ve got more holiday plans so we still tried to play it safe!

On day one we had lunch at the old town square market…Czech ham and Kolbasa and a side of potatoes and cabbage. It really was delicious and hit the spot on a cold day. We topped it off with hot apple cider, some cookies and hot wine.

We watched a few YouTube videos that said we had to try the Trdelnik, (Bubble waffles) a pastry you can eat plain or filled with ice cream or whipped cream. On Thursday we had the regular with ice cream. On Friday we had the chocolate with whipped cream…we like variety, ha! The girls had a great time at the candy shop, too!

Our vegetarian decided since Friday was Christmas Eve, a holiday, she could have meat! That meant traditional Czeck goulash was on the menu. We found the coolest little place across the river called Nicolas Bar. Google maps said they were open, but after we were seated at 11:44 we saw they didn’t open until noon. Oh well we had the place to our selves. Kiersten and I had the traditional beef goulash with dumplings. Mitch got the Beef with sweet cream goulash and we shared…both were excellent. Hattie had chicken and mashed potatoes and Leah had the beef goulash in a bread bowl. I’m so glad we had this meal and it was a really cool place!
